THORChain is a decentralized liquidity network. THORChain protocol allows users to easily exchange cryptocurrency assets across a range of networks without losing full custody of their assets in the process. THORChain is a proof-of-stake network that relies on a number of validators bonding RUNE collateral in order to become eligible to earn block rewards from the network.
THORChain is an automated market maker first outlined in a whitepaper roughly around in 2018. With THORChain, users are able to swap freely from one chain to another and one asset to another, which means making cross-chain swaps with real currencies, rather than wrapped coins or other.
THORChain (RUNE) is a cryptocurrency token and operates on the Binance Coin platform. RUNE is the native utility token of the THORChain platform. RUNE is used as the base currency in its ecosystem and utilized for governance and security. RUNE is the liquidity and security of the THORChain network.
THORChain has no defined organizational structure that means it is a decentralized project with no company, no CEO and no founders. THORChain was launched by an anonymous team of developers. THORChain network itself is community owned.
The THORChain team includes only the Project Custodians and Community Members:
Project Custodians - Individuals who were part of the project launch, responsible for managing treasury and orchestrating activities in order to achieve the project vision.
Community Members - Individuals who have become contributors to the project; begun to lead; and build various elements of THORChain.
Soon there will not be any way to distinguish the above two because the project will be 100% community lead and driven. The THORChain project is open-source, transparent, auditable and there is no command and control structure. There are now several individuals and teams contributing to the project from an engineering perspective. The community has the flexibility and freedom to influence the direction and make key decisions.
