A distributed ledger technology ‘Hashgraph’ was also created by Swirlds Inc in 2016. Hashgraph is currently patented and Hedera Hashgraph is the only authorized ledger. Hedera Hashgraph was developed by Hedera Company and HBAR is the native, energy-efficient cryptocurrency of the Hedera Hashgraph system. The company’s name was later formally changed to Hedera Hashgraph from Hedera. Hedera Hashgraph Company is owned and maintained by a ‘Governing Council’ of global companies and entities. The Hedera Hashgraph Company was founded in 2018.

Dr. Leemon Baird - Currently, he is the Co-Founder & Chief Scientist of Hedera Hashgraph; Co-CEO of Swirlds Labs; and Founder & CTO of Swirlds Inc. Previously, he was the Co-Founder & CTO of BlueWave Security and Trio Security; Senior Research Scientist at Academy Center for Cyberspace Research; Visiting Professor at KAUST; Professor of Computer Science at US Air Force Academy; and Director of Security Engineering at Symbol Technologies (Motorola).
Mance Harmon - He is the Co-Founder of Hedera Hashgraph. Currently, he is the Co-CEO of Swirlds Labs; and Co-Founder, CEO, Board Member & Advisor of Swirlds Inc. Previously, he was the Head of Labs & Head of Architecture at Ping Identity; CTO at Ortsbo; Founder & CEO of BlueWave Security and Trio Security; Senior Director of Security Products at Symbol Technologies (Motorola); Program Manager at Missile Defense Agency; Instructor of Computer Science Department at US Air Force Academy; and Machine Learning Research Scientist at Air Force Research Laboratory(Wright Laboratory).
