Dai (DAI) is a stable, decentralized cryptocurrency which is maintained and regulated by MakerDAO. “Maker” comes from the term Market Maker and “DAO” stands for Decentralized Autonomous Organization. MakerDAO is a decentralized governance community that enables and manages the generation of Dai through an embedded governance mechanism within the Maker Protocol.
The Maker Protocol is the set of smart contracts that make it possible to generate Dai. MKR is an ERC-20 token that is native to the Maker Protocol. The purpose of MKR token is to maintain the price stability of the DAI. MKR token is also used as a source of governance and recapitalization by its holders. MKR holders gain the voting rights to decide on the future of the platform.
Rune Christensen - Founder and CEO
Rune Christensen is a Danish entrepreneur who founded MakerDAO in 2015. He has focused on establishing the vision and organizational structure of the MakerDAO and the economic foundations of the Dai stable digital currency. Prior to MakerDAO, he served as co-founder of Try China, a company providing international recruiting.
Steven Becker - President and COO
He is the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Maker Foundation. He design and implement operational framework to enable the Maker Foundation to bootstrap MakerDAO. He is also the CEO of UDHC.
Bartek Kiepuszewski - Blockchain Architect
He is a Blockchain Architect at MakerDAO. He is a DeFi expert and he also has over twenty years of experience in the computer industry working in complex IT projects. He is the co-founder of “workflow patterns” community.
Andy Milenius - Software Engineer
He is now a software Engineer at DappHub. He is best known for his work on MakerDAO. He is a lead developer for the Dai Credit System and worked on MakerDAO from 2016 until 2019.
